Dave Shafer has been a dedicated City Councilman since June 2021. Throughout his tenure, Shafer has placed honesty, transparency and public safety at the forefront in everything he does. As stated from day one of the first campaign: “you may not always like what I have to say, but you know I will never lie to you.”

Shafer has worked not only to keep campaign promises, but to do so in a manner which most benefits the citizens of Allen as a whole, rejecting notions that one group of voters knows more than another group, or is somehow entitled to dictate how All of Allen lives. Shafer believes Allen should always be a place where people are proud to live, where our children are safe to play outside, and we can sleep soundly at night without fear of crime.

While our infrastructure should always be maintained, and in fact enhanced in a careful, well planned manner, Shafer understands simply throwing money at a problem, without respect to taxpayers who finance everything a city does with their hard-earned money, really isn’t a solution. A responsible council member must balance needs versus wants, and ensure that every city dollar is spent wisely. Shafer understands this is achieved by ensuring sufficient personnel to accomplish the tasks paid for, be it in the form of FTE, PTE, or contractor, and absolutely not at the expense of our public safety.  At the end of the day, Every government dollar is a Taxpayer dollar, and its handling comes with great responsibility.  This should not be taken lightly.

Dave Shafer believes the greatest thing about our magnificent city is our people. Allen has the best people: the best citizens, the best staff, the best everybody.  Allen is Allen, because of our people, and because of the manner in which we provide safety, security and infrastructure to those people.
